TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) captivated fans and enthusiasts alike at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, last weekend at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Showing TGR’s commitment to motorsport and innovation under the theme “Car-making at Nürburgring,” the booth reflects the brand’s heritage and connection to Chairman Akio Toyoda, also known as Master Driver Morizo.

Throughout the three-day event, TGR hosted a series of talk sessions featuring drivers and engineers, along with outdoor vehicle demonstrations that captivated audiences. These interactive elements provided insights into TGR’s racing philosophy and vehicle development.

Among the impressive vehicles on display was the GR Yaris, a model developed specifically for the demanding Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. This vehicle served as a testament to TGR’s engineering prowess and racing heritage, drawing significant attention from motorsport enthusiasts.

Accompanying the GR Yaris was the GR Yaris M Concept, showcasing a mid-mounted 2.0-liter turbocharged engine designed for high-performance applications. This innovative design diverges from the standard front-engine layout. Alongside the M Concept is the GR Yaris Aero Package prototype. This concept showcased performance aerodynamic parts that had been developed in collaboration with professional drivers to optimize vehicle performance through rigorous testing and feedback.

The exhibition also included iconic vehicles that had participated in past Nürburgring races, such as the Toyota Supra and various models like the Toyota Altezza and Lexus LFA. These cars not only celebrated TGR’s racing legacy but also served as inspiration for current and future racing endeavors.

Additionally, classic vehicles were featured in a section dubbed “MORIZO Garage,” which included historical models like the 1966 Corolla and the 1960 R360 Coupe. These vintage cars offered a nostalgic look back at Toyota’s long-standing commitment to automotive excellence.

In addition to new models, TGR introduced its GR Heritage Parts Project, aimed at reissuing discontinued service parts for iconic models such as the AE86 and Land Cruiser 40. This initiative caters to enthusiasts eager to maintain their classic vehicles. At the salon, TGR also offered nostalgia-inducing brochures for these heritage models.

TGR exhibited alongside Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. in the North Hall, where they featured several exciting displays. One of the main attractions was the “Land Cruiser Base,” which promoted the customization options available for the Toyota Land Cruiser, previously highlighted by Toyota Auto Body Co., Ltd. This collaborative effort aimed to enhance excitement among attendees at the Auto Salon. Models such as the Land Cruiser (BJ) and LC 70 Overseas Custom were displayed, showing off the rugged capabilities and versatility for off-road enthusiasts.
