LAST weekend, Electrify Expo, North America’s largest outdoor electric vehicle (EV) festival, took place at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, transforming over 1 million square feet of space into a hub for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
With New York being one of the top markets for EV adoption in the U.S., the expo served as an ideal opportunity for attendees to explore the future of transportation. Among the featured attractions were hands-on test drives of some of the most anticipated electric vehicles on the market, including the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford Mustang Mach-E, GMC Hummer EV, and Lucid Air. Visitors also had the chance to try out smaller electric mobility options such as e-bikes and e-scooters from brands like Super73, GoTrax, and Tern.
GMC made its Electrify Expo debut at the event, showcasing its Hummer EV and Sierra EV Denali.
One of the event’s highlights was the ability for attendees to drive the Tesla Cybertruck through the streets of Long Island, offering a rare first-hand experience of the much-anticipated electric vehicle. Nissan also brought its Formula E race car, accompanied by a SIM racing experience that allowed attendees to test their skills on a virtual track.
Aftermarket enthusiasts were mesmerized by the customized Teslas and other EV conversions including a Ford Bronco that still retained its 4×4 transaxle. The Electrify Showoff featured an array of modified EVs, including notable conversions, allowing visitors to see the creativity and potential of electric cars beyond standard models.
Aside from the vehicle displays and test drives, the event also aimed to educate attendees. At the Amazon Recharge Zone, visitors were able to get answers to common EV-related questions, learn about the benefits of going electric, and dispel any myths surrounding electric vehicles. The zone provided a practical space for those new to EVs to gain a deeper understanding of how the technology works and how it fits into daily life.
BJ Birtwell, CEO and founder of Electrify Expo, emphasized the importance of the festival in promoting electric transportation. He noted New York’s leadership in EV adoption and expressed enthusiasm for the turnout in Long Island, saying that the event was designed to provide real-world, hands-on experiences to those interested in electric transportation.
In addition to cars and bikes, the expo featured the final race of the National Championship for Electrify Race League, providing further excitement for those in attendance.
Held on October 12-13, the Electrify Expo NY is the 7th of an eight-leg EV tour ending in Austin, Texas on November 8-10. The NY event drew large crowds eager to experience the latest in EV technology and innovation.
