ACMobility, Ayala Corp.’s electric mobility solutions provider, launched a new charging hub at U.P. Town Center in Quezon City.
The company sees Quezon City, with its strong commitment to sustainability, as the ideal location to showcase the transformative potential of electric mobility. Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, CEO of ACMobility, emphasized their goal: “With the growing adoption of electric vehicles in the Philippines, we aim to make EV charging more accessible and convenient for everyone.”
The U.P. Town Center hub boasts a strategic location along Katipunan Avenue, placing it within easy reach of major universities and high foot traffic areas. This accessibility is key to driving EV adoption among students, faculty, and the general public. The hub itself is equipped with a mix of fast chargers and AC chargers, catering to a wide range of EVs, from private cars to public utility vehicles like e-jeepneys. This diverse charging capacity reflects ACMobility’s commitment to supporting the electrification of all vehicle types.
Collaboration is a cornerstone of ACMobility’s approach. The U.P. Town Center hub is the first project in partnership with Meralco, who will provide the energy infrastructure for future hubs across the country. ACMobility is also working with the Quezon City local government and the University of the Philippines to further expand EV infrastructure.
To visually represent the spirit of sustainability and innovation, the U.P. Town Center hub features a mural by Professor Toym Imao and his students from the University of the Philippines’ College of Fine Arts. The mural, with its vibrant colors and dynamic imagery, captures the energy of Katipunan Avenue while highlighting the advanced technology of the charging hub.
This new hub is just one piece of ACMobility’s larger plan. Carla Buencamino, Head of Mobility Infrastructure at ACMobility, stated, “Quezon City stands out as one of the few Metro Manila cities actively championing sustainability… We are proud to work with Quezon City to make electric mobility accessible to more people and to contribute to cleaner transport solutions for the city.”
ACMobility aims to establish over 200 charging points in approximately 100 locations nationwide by the end of 2024.
