BYD charged its year right with its BYD Tech Tour last weekend at the Ayala Malls Solenad in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The three-day event which started on Friday, January 17 was an experiential activity with test drives, sit-downs and technoloy demos. It showed all BYD models locally available but focused on the Seal Advanced and the updated BYD Atto 3.
The Seal Advanced, known for its aerodynamic design and advanced features, was displayed alongside the refreshed Atto 3, an electric SUV that has been updated with new specifications to meet consumer demand.
The refreshed Atto 3 had slight exterior upgrades, with the most important functional improvement is the new power tailgate available in the Premium variant. Additionally, the vehicle’s rear design has been simplified with a new BYD logo that replaces the previous “Build Your Dreams” branding. Gloss black accents on the D-pillar garnish and window trim contribute to a more sophisticated appearance, while wider 235/50 R18 Continental tires are intended to enhance handling and ride comfort.
Inside, the Atto 3 offers several upgrades aimed at improving passenger experience. Ambient lighting has been introduced in both Dynamic and Premium variants, creating a more inviting cabin atmosphere. The vehicle is equipped with a PM 2.5 air filter that includes on-screen monitoring to ensure better air quality for occupants. The already massive infotainment system now features an even larger 15.6-inch touchscreen display, providing users with easier access to navigation and media functions.
The pricing for the updated Atto 3 has been set competitively, with the Dynamic variant starting at P1.598M and the Premium variant priced at P1.798M. The introduction of a new color option called Cosmos Black complements existing choices such as Boulder Gray, Ski White, and Surf Blue.
Aside from showcasing vehicles, the event included various educational activities aimed at informing attendees about electric vehicle technology. Interactive displays explained the mechanics of electric vehicles and highlighted their environmental benefits. BYD staff were present to answer questions and provide insights into the company’s approach to sustainable transportation.
A panel discussion featuring industry experts was another highlight of the event. The discussion focused on the future of electric mobility in the Philippines, addressing topics such as infrastructure development, government support, and consumer awareness. These conversations prompted attendees to share their thoughts on electric vehicles and their potential impact on daily life.
The BYD Tech Tour also emphasized community engagement.
Families attended the event together, with activities available for children while parents explored the vehicles. Local food vendors contributed to a lively atmosphere, offering refreshments that kept visitors energized throughout the day.Feedback from attendees indicated a growing interest in electric vehicles. Many expressed that seeing the models in person helped shift their perceptions about EVs.
Ambet Dollano, a Sta Rosa resident said that “this event changed my mind about EVs.” Paul Comde, an engineer from San Pablo, Laguna dropped by out of curiosity and left telling Malaya Business Insight that “I want to sell my sedan to replace it with the BYD Dolphin.”
