CHEVRON Philippines Inc. (CPI) has renewed its partnership with Edukasyon.ph to offer training and employment assistance to underserved individuals through the AWS re/Start program. The program, designed to provide cloud computing skills to disadvantaged groups, reflects both organizations’ commitment to educational development.
In the previous batch of the AWS re/Start program, 48 scholars successfully completed the course, acquiring key skills in cloud computing–a field that is seeing growing demand. The training enabled participants to develop expertise in designing, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructures, which are vital for businesses of all sizes.
Chevron’s renewed support will allow Edukasyon.ph to enroll 50 more students in the upcoming batch, providing them with essential skills and employment opportunities.
The AWS re/Start initiative is a workforce development program aimed at preparing individuals for careers in the tech industry, with no prior experience in cloud computing required. The program, which is offered at no cost to participants, targets unemployed or underemployed individuals, helping them transition into new career paths.
Participants receive instruction from accredited mentors and instructors, covering essential areas such as programming, networking, security, and relational database management. They are also guided through real-world scenarios and hands-on labs, culminating in an AWS Certification, a globally recognized credential that verifies their cloud computing skills.
“We are very grateful to Chevron Philippines for their continued support. Programs like this are quite costly, and their external support allows us to develop additional cohorts, enabling more students to participate and benefit from upskilling opportunities. We are also thrilled to have the opportunity to renew our partnership with Chevron,” said Edukasyon.ph Board Member Sophia Fontanilla.
Raissa Bautista, Corporate Affairs Manager of CPI, highlighted Chevron’s commitment to supporting education and improving livelihoods for disadvantaged communities. “Reflecting on the success of last year’s cohort, we at Chevron Philippines firmly believe that cloud computing is crucial for shaping the future for aspiring Filipino professionals. We are deeply committed to supporting education and improving livelihoods for disadvantaged groups. We also extend our gratitude to Edukasyon.ph for this partnership, which will help us upskill more individuals,” she said.
