FEATHERWEIGHT portability, military-grade durability. These are the key phrases that smart technologies maker Lenovo used to describe its latest Yoga Slim 7i Carbon laptop.
“We are committed to ensuring that every Yoga user is empowered to achieving more in a life of smarter living,” Peter Yeung, General Manager, Consumer Business of Lenovo Asia Pacific said at a virtual press conference that unveiled the new device to the technology media. The 13.3-inch premium laptop with 16:10 display boasts of all-day battery life leading users to enjoy that smarter living concept, designed for always-on-the-go business leaders, entrepreneurs and millennials.
“Whether it transforms the way people use technology or a faster way of getting things done so they can focus on what truly matters — the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is a testament to Lenovo’s mission to continuously break innovation boundaries and deliver smarter technology for all,” Yeung said, talking about the incredibly light laptop with a unique finish called a “moon white sheen.”
Carbon is part of this nomenclature because fully packed, yet weighing only 966g, the laptop’s main cover is made from carbon fiber. Same stuff that is used for spacecraft, Formula 1 body parts and super high-tech prosthesis. That cover is made of carefully layered and bonded fibers using the same high-precision manufacturing process used in supercars. The proprietary Web-Core 2.0 multi-layer carbon fibre reduces material weight further by 47 percent, while increasing durability by 25 percent compared to the previous generation.
The thinness makes it look delicate. Only 14.255 mm at its thinnest, the incredibly sleek profile that tapers to the front conceals its ruggedness.
Subjected to a battery of Lenovo’s strict in-house reliability test and nine military-grade tests for durability, meeting MIL-STD-810G standards, it withstands a variety of knocks and bumps. With a dust-resistant and extreme temperature-resistant, drop-tested structure it can make it through everyday wear and tear.
The stunning Moon White finish is achieved through a unique process involving three layers of high heat, and six to nine hours of painting. The result is a beautiful, ultra-mobile device made from Lenovo’s lightest carbon fibre material yet, retaining its elegance through an easy-to-clean, anti-fingerprint finish.
