IBM software now in 92 countries in AWS marketplace
IBM announced a global expansion of its software portfolio’s availability. The portfolio is now accessible in 92 countries through the AWS Marketplace. This digital catalog offers thousands of software listings from independent vendors and simplifies the processes of finding, testing, buying, and deploying software compatible with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The expansion increases accessibility beyond the software’s previous availability in Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. IBM anticipates this will improve procurement procedures for clients, optimize purchasing processes, and enhance overall efficiency.
“Both IBM and AWS play a huge role in our success,” said Uri Bechar, vice president of software engineering, Redis. “Part of my job is to ensure our organization fulfills our committed spend with AWS and that the purchasing process is streamlined. Buying IBM software in AWS Marketplace gives us more flexibility, enables us to use our committed spend, and ultimately makes the entire process easier so we can deploy faster and start seeing value from our investments. I just go in, click accept, then I’m done.”
Market research from Canalys indicates that cloud marketplaces are rapidly becoming the preferred distribution method for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings. Growth in this sector is projected to reach US $45 billion by 2025, representing an 84 percent CAGR over a five-year period. Marketplaces are known to reduce buying cycles, centralize billing, and facilitate the rapid scaling of software deployments.
This expansion makes IBM’s artificial intelligence (AI) and data technologies available to clients through a collection of 44 listings and 29 SaaS offerings on the AWS Marketplace.
These technologies include components from the company’s watsonx AI and Data platform.
Olympus goes global supporting Filipino web3 startups
THE DFINITY Foundation, a Swiss not-for-profit behind the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) blockchain, has unveiled Olympus, a decentralized, on-chain acceleration platform for Web3 projects.
Olympus offers a unified launchpad for Web3 products, providing grants, crowdfunding, VC investments, and networking opportunities. It connects over 40 countries, streamlining project applications, funding, talent sourcing, and cross-community collaboration. The platform aims to foster a transparent investment environment, offering investors early access to vetted projects.
DFINITY and the ICP Asia Alliance are supporting Olympus’s initial operations with a $15 million grant, which will fund the first series of Web3 startup accelerator programs. ISLA Camp (ICP Hub Philippines) will spearhead these efforts locally, identifying and nurturing Filipino-led Web3 projects.
“Magandang o portunidad ang Olympus para makilala ang Filipino Web3 projects and entrepreneurs sa global stage. [Olympus opens global opportunities for Filipino projects and entrepreneurs.] Our focus at ISLA Camp (ICP Hub Philippines) is to identify, nurture, and propel high-potential Filipino Web3 projects onto the global stage,” said Nelson Lumbres, Co-founder of ISLA Camp (ICP Hub Philippines).
