Converge ICT ramps up workforce, deploys more fiber optic installers
Converge ICT Solutions, Inc., the country’s premier pure end-to-end fiber internet service provider, has begun a fresh round of workforce augmentation with the deployment of more fiber optic installers.
The company has doubled its fiber optic installer crew compared to its pre-pandemic headcount, and targets to triple the number by year-end. The continued augmentation of its workforce is part of an expansion plan that began in 2019. Customers waiting for their homes and businesses to be connected to the fast and reliable internet of Converge ICT will be the first to feel the positive effects of the increase in personnel.
“The expansion is now at its halfway point. Initially, we encountered some delays due to the Luzon-wide quarantines, which limited the movement of personnel,” shared Converge ICT Founder and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Anthony Uy, adding that teams since restrictions lifted, Converge teams on the ground have since gained momentum. “We saw the surge in demand and acted quickly, working around operational roadblocks and finding more ways to serve our customers.”
Other efforts, such as the boosting of the number of seats for their voice and non-voice customer service teams, was already in full swing when the pandemic struck.
The company has undergone transformational growth, renewing and establishing contracts with four partner outsourcing companies to meet the surge in demand. This has resulted in the hiring and training of hundreds of 48-hour technical and non-technical support agents.
As the pandemic has funneled everyone towards online activities and transactions, Converge ICT has continued operations with safety arrangements and accommodations set for its agents and on-ground crew. The recent partnership with multinational telecommunications firm Nokia Corp. will enable the connection of over 300,000 customers in Mindanao to Converge ICT’s national backbone over the next three years. The availability of fiber-based internet to Filipinos lays a foundation to a digital, and future-ready Philippines.
“We thank our customers for their patience and understanding. While there have been some roadblocks in the last months, our turnaround times have improved considerably,” said Uy. “The significant boost in fiber optic installers will bridge last mile connection challenges and connect more Filipino homes.”
At present, the company expects to incur capital expenditures of approximately P33 billion for the further development and expansion of its national backbone, provincial backbone and last mile connectivity for the remainder of 2020 and 2021[1].

Biggest online event for teachers organized by 51Talk
“More than 10,000 of our online English teachers participated and we were overwhelmed by the turnout,” said Jennifer Que, 51Talk country head.

Over 2 million pesos worth of prizes were raffled off during the event including exclusive 51Talk merchandise, gift certificates, gadgets, appliances, and laptops.
The awe-inspiring talents of teachers were showcased, the company’s outstanding teachers and clubs were recognized, and a heart-warming tribute was given. The event also featured performances from today’s hottest stars — OPM singer/songwriter Ebe Dancel and Asia’s Phoenix Morissette.
