The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has approved the corporate name change of Rural Bank of Sta. Rosa (Laguna) Inc. to Salmon Bank (Rural Bank).
In a BSP Circular Letter CL No. 2025-039, signed by BSP Deputy Governor Lyn Javier on September 11, the BSP authorized the name change on February 21, 2025.
Javier said the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has also approved the rural bank’s amended articles of incorporation and amended by-laws under the name of Salmon Bank on August 5, 2025.
The circular letter was released to the public on Friday, September 12.
Based on information posted on its website, Salmon Bank is owned by technology company Salmon Group Limited. The group also operates a financing firm, Sunprime Finance Inc.
In a statement on July 29, 2025, Salmon Bank reported that as of end-June, its assets amounted to P1.8 billion, while its deposit base and consumer lending reached P952 million and P1.2 billion, respectively.
In a separate circular letter, the BSP also approved the change in corporate name of another rural bank, Seabank Philippines.
Javier signed on September 3 BSP Circular Letter CL No. 2025-037 authorizing the name change of Seabank to MariBank Philippines Inc. (A Rural Bank).
She said the central bank approved the name change on April 21, 2025 while the SEC approved the amended articles of incorporation and amended by-laws on July 31.
Seabank is part of Singapore-based Sea Limited, a global internet company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
