ING appoints new chief economist for Asia Pacific

ING recently announced the appointment of Deepali Bhargava as the new head of research and chief economist for Asia Pacific. 

Bhargava brings over 20 years of experience as an economist, having held senior roles at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) and Credit Suisse.

Most recently, she served as Director and Head of South Asia Macro, Global Macro, and Asset Allocation at KKR, where she led macroeconomic analysis for India, Southeast Asia, and Australia, with a primary focus on private markets.

Her expertise includes identifying macroeconomic trends, forecasting economic and earnings cycles, and providing strategic insights into interest rates and currency movements to facilitate investment decisions across asset classes.

Bhargava began her career at ING Vysya Bank in Mumbai, making her return to ING a homecoming. During her time in India, she was recognised as the top forecaster for USD/INR by Bloomberg for the period of June 2010 to December 2011.
