Voyager Innovations (Voyager), the leading fintech company in the Philippines, appointed seasoned banking and fintech executive Angelo Madrid as President of Maya Bank.

The announcement comes on the heels of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) granting a digital banking license to Maya Bank, making it one of only seven recipients under the new digital banking category. Voyager’s fintech arm PayMaya Philippines, along with Maya Bank, will catalyze greater digital financial services adoption in the Philippines.

Madrid brings over 15 years of experience across banking, fintech, microfinance, and law.

Before joining Maya Bank, he served as the Country Manager of Tala, a USbased fintech lending startup serving unbanked customers in emerging markets, including the Philippines.

“Maya Bank will usher the next phase of our digital financial services journey. Along with PayMaya, Maya Bank will be at the forefront of enabling all Filipinos with unique, innovative, and accessible digital banking and financial services. I’m confident that Angelo’s extensive global experience and proven track record in the Philippines will help us achieve this vision with speed and urgency,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Voyager and PayMaya Philippines President, and a member of the Board of Directors of Maya Bank.
