EastWest Bank has announced the appointment of former Supreme Court Justice Francis Jardeleza and former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Monetary Board member Armando Suratos to its Board of Directors in its Annual Stockholders’ Meeting last month.
Independent directors Carlos Alindada and Paul Aquino have retired from their positions on the board after 19 and 12 fruitful years of service to the bank, respectively.
“We’ve seen a lot of challenges, and we’ve also seen a lot of success. If it weren’t for Directors Alindada and Aquino’s contributions through all these years, the bank would not be what it is today,” said EastWest chairman Jonathan T. Gotianun.
Justice Jardeleza is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, serving five years from 2014 to 2019, and a former Solicitor General from 2012 to 2014. He is also currently a director at Ginebra San Miguel Inc., San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc., and Petron Corporation, as well as a lecturer at the University of the Philippines College of Law.
