THE Philippine Sports Commission has sent the national women’s volleyball team to Japan as part of its preparations for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
The PSC released a total of P1.7 million to fund the 12-day camp intended to boost the squad for the biennial on Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.
The squad left for Tokyo on Saturday and will be up against prominent club teams like Kashiwa Angel Cross, Yamanashi Chuo Bank, Gunma Bank Green Wings, and Hitachi.
The Nationals will also clash with collegiate teams like Nittai University and Aoyama University.
The last time the Philippines won a medal — a bronze — in the SEA Games was in 2005.
