Along Quirino Avenue in Novaliches, Quezon City now stands a refurbished and upgraded Novaliches District Hospital which was turned over by SM Foundation recently.
SM Foundation Senior Assistant Vice President and Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs Connie Angeles commended SM Engineering Design and Development for the invaluable support extended in the renovation of the hospital. “It is the SM EDD who makes sure specifications and time tables are followed,” said Angeles. SM EDD was represented by its AVP for Retail Affiliates Design Remedios N. Macato during the turn over ceremonies.
Renovated on the ground floor were the Out Patients Department specialty clinics and clinical departments consisting of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Surgery and Anesthesiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Dental clinic, Respiratory Unit, Ultrasound/stress test for OB-Gyne, Maternal High-Risk testing unit and Ophthalmology.
The second floor which was totally renovated is site of the OB-Gyne Ward, High Risk Pregnancy Unit, OB Examination Room, Patients’ Lounge, Breast-feeding Room, Isolation Room and Nurses’ Stations. At the third floor, SM Foundation renovated the Pediatric Ward, Play area, Lounge, Pediatric Isolation Room, Breast-feeding Room, Philhealth Rooms 1 and 2, Infirmary Room, Nursing Office, Infection Prevention and control office, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Medical Intensive Care Unit.
The renovation will ensure that NDH maintains its accreditation as a Mother and Baby Friendly Health Facility and get the upgrade as a Level 2 category hospital as it now includes an Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, High Risk Pregnancy Unit and Respiratory Therapy Service, among others.
On the same occasion, five cribs–called Cribs of Joy– were turned over to new mothers who had given birth during the week prior to the inauguration.
