Pinoy seafarer missing after ship collision in England

A Filipino crew member of the container ship MV Solong has gone missing after a collision with the oil tanker Stena Immaculate off the northeast coast of England last March 10.

In a statement issued last night, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) disclosed that a Filipino crew member had gone missing.

“The seaman was last seen at the bow of the vessel, the area of the ship that caught on fire after the massive explosion,” said the DMW.

It said the incident was reported by the licensed manning agency (LMA) of the seafarer.

“The LMA has personally informed the family of the missing seafarer about the situation and has committed to providing them with daily updates,” said the DMW.
