PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. is currently “evaluating” if there is a need for a leadership change in each department of government, kindling rumors of an impending Cabinet revamp.
But Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said there is no decision for any possible change in the Cabinet or other positions, for now.
Castro added that the President needs to regularly evaluate the performance of his Cabinet members and those in government to determine if they are doing well in their jobs.
“Every time kailangan namang mag-evaluate ng Pangulo kung ang kanyang secretaries, Cabinet members, are doing well for the government, for the people (The President needs to evaluate every time if his secretaries, Cabinet members, are doing well for the government, for the people),” she said.
Castro issued the remarks amid reports that Presidential Security Command (PSC) Maj. Gen. Jesus Nelson Morales and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy are on the way out.
“Pero as of now, wala pa po talaga (But as of now, there’s no changes yet),” she added.
Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez resigned from their posts recently.
Vince Dizon and Jay Ruiz were named Transportation Secretary and Communications Secretary, respectively.
As this developed, some changes in PCO may be expected following the assumption of Ruiz.
Castro did not provide details but said that “some will be retained (and) some may also be removed.” “So, let’s just wait for the order of Secretary Jay Ruiz,” Castro added.
