Paredes named BCDA chairman

President Marcos Jr. has named lawyer and businessman Hilario Paredes as chairman of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said yesterday.

Paredes, who replaced Thompson Lantion, had been serving as a member of the BCDA board of directors since 2023.

He was also a member of the board of directors of North Luzon Railways, Bonifacio Communications Corp., Filinvest BCDA Clark Inc., and Fort Bonifacio Development Corp.

Paredes obtained both his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and his law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University.

During his law internship, he interned at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 96 that was presided by then Judge Lucas Bersamin.

He worked as an associate in various law firms such as those of Alan F. Paguia (1996-1997), Villanueva Bernardo & Gabionza Law Offices (1998), Castillo Laman Tan Pantaleon & San Jose Law Offices (1998 – 1999), and then in Puyat Jacinto and Santos Law Office (2000-2003) where he later became a partner.

He later set up his own law firm, the Paredes Law Group that handles cases in the fields of banking and corporate finance, corporate law, infrastructure, telecommunications; mergers and acquisitions; taxation; immigration and labor and employment; and real property law and litigation.

Paredes is currently the chairman and president of Paredes Holdings, Asian Center For Legal

Excellence, Inc. (a Supreme Court accredited MCLEprovider), NorthTel Trading, Inc, Centel Trading, Inc., and Prime Logistics Group and Consultancy, Inc.
