MISS Philippines Earth successfully concluded its 20th edition of selecting the environmental ambassador for Mother Earth by using a virtual platform where all of the 33 contestants paraded in swimsuits and evening gowns right in the comforts of their own homes as well as the judges who did their scoring tasks.
Trust the trio of Carousel Productions’ president Ramon Monzon, executive vice president Lorraine Schuck and VP for projects Peachy Veneracion for coming up with innovations that are doable despite the current restrictions on physical distancing and mass gatherings.
After all, they have pioneered in creating the advocacy-driven Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth that have continuously campaigned to save our environment for the last 20 years.
They also pioneered in judging beauty of figure where the contestants’ faces are blocked by veils, sunshades and now, face masks, eliminating distractions to fully assess the ladies’ physical forms. For the beauty of face, the ladies are required to put on a dash of face powder and no makeup.
Congratulations Carousel Productions and to Baguio City’s Roxanne Baeyens, the new Miss Philippines Earth who now holds the distinction as the first-ever winner of a virtual national pageant in the new norm.

Next to hold a virtual search for its new queens is the Mrs Queen of Hearts Philippines, headed by its founder and former Mrs Asia Pacific Tourism Mitzie Go-Gil.
Gil and her reigning queens – Avon Morales (reigning Mrs Asia Pacific All Nations), Llena Tan (Mrs Worldwide 2nd runner-up), Mary Chris Abacahin (Mrs Philippines-Asia Pacific Cosmopolitan), Jennifer Sibug-Las (Mrs Philippines-Asia Pacific All Nations and Commissioner for National Commission on Indigenous Peoples of Central Mindanao), Glynes Olbes (Mrs Philippines-Asia Pacific Intercontinental), Marjorie Orito (Mrs Philippines-Asia Pacific Tourism) and Rosenda Casaje (Mrs Philippines-Global Universe) – have started their preliminary virtual competitions.
A select panel of judges from the media, including this Pageant Watcher, together with Mitzie and her reigning queens, have already concluded the Best in Costume and Best Advocacy & Intro Video competitions with the winners to be announced during the finals.
Fourteen married women from all over the country are vying for the coveted crowns.
The competitions for talent and evening gown will also be conducted virtually on July 27 and August 15, respectively, while the grand coronation night will, hopefully, be held at the Hilton Hotel Manila on August 30.
