MMDA to support SEA Games

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will deploy around 2,000 personnel to provide assistance and manage traffic flow in Metro Manila during the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games from Nov. 30-Dec. 11.

MMDA chairman Danilo Lim said that aside from providing traffic personnel, the agency will also provide motorcycle and mobile car escorts, ambulances and tow trucks along designated routes of SEA Games delegates.

The designated venues for the 12-day games in Metro Manila are the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and Manila Hotel tent in Manila, Astrodome, SM Mall of Asia Arena and SM MOA Skating Rink, World Trade Center, Philippine International Convention Center Forum (PICC) in Pasay City; Muntinlupa Sports Complex and Filinvest City in Muntinlupa City;
SM Megamall, SM Megamall Ice Rink and Starmall EDSA in Mandaluyong City; University of the Philippines Diliman Gym and Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City; Marine Corps in Taguig City; Makati Coliseum and Manila Polo Club in Makati City; Philsports Arena in Pasig City; and The Arena in San Juan.

Other events for the SEA Games will be held in Clark in Pampanga, Subic in Zambales and in Southern Luzon where traffic congestion is also expected. — Rod Lagusad
