MAUREEN Montagne, currently candidate no. 11 in Binibining Pilipinas 2020, competed for Miss Eco International 2019 in Hurghada, Egypt in March 2019 and finished as first runner-up to winner Suheyn Cipriani of Peru.
Cipriani was asked to resign recently after she got pregnant and Maureen was originally offered to take over. Maureen politely turned down the offer and issued this statement:
“First and foremost, I want to say that this past year, I have poured my heart and soul to Binibining Pilipinas (2020). I am eternally grateful for everyone’s support on my pageant journey and I would like to say — I’m sticking with it.
“I have made a commitment to the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated [whole]heartedly and I will continue to chase my dreams of competing on the Bb Pilipinas stage in the hopes of representing our country on the international stage.”
Binibining Pilipinas 2020 has been indefinitely postponed due to the pandemic.
Born in Arizona, USA, Montagne is 26, 5’7” and representing Batangas. A host and a model by profession, Maureen’s father is American of French descent while her mother is a native of Padre Garcia, Batangas.
Maureen is not new to pageantry, having been crowned as Miss Arizona USA 2015. She also competed in Miss World Philippines 2018 where she was crowned as Miss Eco Philippines eventually competing and finishing second at Miss Eco international.
Maureen is working on creating awareness about HIV/Aids among the youth.
Meanwhile, Stella Marquez Araneta, chair of Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI), has announced that Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will conduct e-training sessions for the candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2020.
Gray will be joined by Binibining Pilipinas Grand International & Miss Grand International first runner-up 2016 Nicole Cordoves to teach the 2020 candidates how to stand out and win in a beauty pageant.
“We are delighted that Catriona and Nicole will provide online training and intelligence, and the ability to answer the judges’ questions. You should know how to speak well and gracefully before the public,” said Araneta.
Schedules for the online training sessions will be announced soon on BPCI’s social media pages and facilities.
