Manila Water Co. Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CEMEX Holdings Philippines, Inc. (CHP) to collaborate and explore opportunities of mutual interest to meet both parties’ corporate sustainability objectives.
Under the agreement, both parties will explore the opportunity to build and collaborate on initiatives that accelerate sustainable objectives on circular economy through the use of biosolids as alternative fuels.
CHP and Manila Water will also explore partnership in the areas of innovation on sustainable products and services, protection and rehabilitation of biodiversity as well as for clean energy and efficient water consumption advocacies.
The MOU will also entail both parties to collaborate and share knowledge, expertise and practices on projects that will be identified as part of the roadmap.
CHP and Manila Water said the move also reinforces the role of businesses to propose better solutions, in response to the Philippines as among the most vulnerable in relation to risks involving the climate crisis.
The parties added that the intersection of business goals and strategic commitment also makes the cooperation viable for decarbonization efforts.
