A MAGNITUDE 5.5 earthquake rocked Davao Occidental yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake occurred at 1:59 a.m. Its epicenter was some 214 km southeast of Balut Island in the town of Sarangani.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 15 km.
No felt intensity was reported.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected.
