ASIDE from government health facilities, the country’s private hospitals have also seen an increase in dengue cases.

Dr. Jose Rene De Grano, president of the Private Hospitals Association Philippines Inc. (PHAPI), said an increase of 5 to 10 percent in dengue cases has been observed in private hospitals in the past two weeks.

“Cases remain mostly children but we have also observed an increase among adults,” he also said.

Records of the Department of Health (DOH) show 62,313 dengue cases have been reported from January 1 to March 1. This is 73 percent higher compared to the same period in 2024, the DOH said.

De Grano asked local government units to heed the health department’s call for them to undertake massive community cleanup drives targeting mosquito-breeding sites. “Everyone is encouraged to clean their surroundings and remove mosquito-breeding sites. The cooperation of everybody is encouraged,” he said.
