Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement gives emphasis on arrangement developed to include the stem, leaves and branches as well as flowers. In 1927, SofuTeshigahara, son of Ikebana artist WafuTeshigahara founded the Sogetsu school of Ikebana. Sogetsu allows the arranger freedom of expression by incorporating the use of unconventional materials.
Mr. Marc Tomas, former president of Ikebana International Manila Chapter 108 and member of Sogetsu Potential Manila Chapter will conduct a workshop on Ikebana-Sogetsu inspired flower arrangement for beginners at the Sunshine Place from 10-11 a.m on November 9, 16, 23 and 30.
Workshop participants will learn the basics of Ikebana. A reasonably-priced starter kit is available at the venue which includes, the foliage for the four sessions, kenzan and a vertical and horizontal base.
