HYUNDAI Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) continues its commitment to empower communities and enhance the future prospects of Filipinos through the Hyundai Accelerate program. In this latest development, four scholars from Pasig City have been officially admitted to a rigorous 12-month Industrial Skills Training Program offered by Don Bosco Makati’s Technical-Vocational Education and Training curriculum. This marks Pasig City as the second partner under HMPH’s scholarship program, following the Department of Education Taguig and Pateros (DepEd TAPAT).

The formal agreement was signed during a ceremony held in August at the People’s Hall. Present at the event were key HMPH executives, including Dong Wook Lee, President of HMPH, Cecil Capacete, Managing Director, and Hong Shik Chin, Chief Finance Officer. They were joined by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski Jr., Councilor Mark Gil “Volta” Delos Santos, Councilor Corazon “Cory” Raymundo, Officer-in-Charge for the Education Unit Atty. Kathleen Mae Villamin, and Executive Assistant for the Office of the Mayor, Atty. Bernice Mendoza.

Lee expressed his gratitude during the event, stating, “We thank the City Government of Pasig for allowing us to support and contribute to its Five-Point Agenda, particularly the ‘Education’ pillar. Let us work together to provide our youth with access to quality training and resources, paving the way for their development into well-rounded, employed individuals.”

Mayor Sotto, a staunch advocate for education and youth empowerment, shared his vision for Pasig City, which is widely recognized as a “model city” in the Philippines. He emphasized the importance of job skills matching and creating diverse pathways for individuals to secure better careers and futures. Mayor Sotto expressed his appreciation for the partnership with Hyundai Motor Philippines, highlighting that it not only provides scholarships but also guarantees a promising future for the students.

In collaboration with the Don Bosco Technical Institute, Hyundai Accelerate is designed to transform the lives of young Filipinos by tapping into their untapped potential. The program aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by offering selected students the opportunity to be hired as professionals by Hyundai dealerships after completing their On-the-Job Training (OJT). Through Hyundai Accelerate, students gain immersive experience in automotive technology, positioning them as leaders in car manufacturing, car shop servicing, and beyond.
