How ‘Unbreakable’ led to Angelica, Bea’s reconciliation

ANGELICA Panganiban says Bea Alonzo is definitely one of her closest friends in showbiz right now, but she admits there was a time they had a falling out due to some misunderstanding they no longer want to mention. “It really happens between friends,” she says. “May tampuhan, inisan, pero dahil sa movie naming ‘Unbreakable,’ we’ve become closer than ever. Parang biglang naayos anuman ‘yung naging samaan namin ng loob.”

Bea had a controversial breakup with Gerald Anderson, while Angelica felt bad when Carlo Aquino made her feel that they’re reconciling after they did a movie together, but it didn’t happen.

“Malaking bagay na we both went through the same kind of pain, mas naka-relate kami sa isa’t isa at dahil doon, masasabi naming mas lumalim ang pagkakaibigan namin kaysa noong mga bata pa kami,” she also says.

They now plan to go out together, have out of town vacations together. In “Unbreakable,” which opens in theaters this Wednesday, Angelica plays Deena. “She’s a people-pleaser.

Laging dependent sa ibang mga tao, looking for love and attention. Best friend ko si Bea as Mariel since our college days. Marami na kaming pinagdaanan, then something happens that will test the strength of our relationship.”

Is she now ready to fall in love again?

“Naku, magpapahinga muna ako. Basta ang importante, you just maintain faith and hope in your heart. Kung nasaktan ka ng isang tao, hindi naman ibig sabihin noon, everyone is bad. Just accept na anuman ‘yung pinagdaraanan mo, kailangan mo ‘yun para maging mas matibay ka, para maging unbreakable ka.”

Sophie Albert has joined the cast of “The Gift” and the feedback she’s getting for her presence in the show is very encouraging.

“I play Helga, a psychic,” says Sophie. “I’m happy to have a new show after matapos ‘yung afternoon soap naming ‘Bihag’ na contravida ang role ko. This time, mabait naman ako. I see dead people, mga kaluluwang hindi matahimik and I try to help them, like Alden’s dad in the story, TJ Trinidad.”

When Sep (Alden Richards) was kidnapped by bad elements masterminded by his own half-brother, Jared (Martin del Rosario), Sophie teams up with the spirit of Alden’s dad, Gener (TJ Trinidad), who died in the first week of telecast of “The Gift.” Gener now returns to help his son whenever he is in danger.

“Nagtulong kami ng father ni Alden to find out kung saan siya dinala ng mga kidnaper at ayun, we were able to help him,” explains Sophie. “We succeeded in informing his adoptive mom, si Jo Berry, and his lola, Elizabeth Oropesa, about his whereabouts kaya natagpuan siya at nadala sa ospital matapos siyang bugbugin ng mga kumidnap sa kanya. Eventually, Alden and I will team up. Ako, I can talk to dead people and he’s clairvoyant who can look into the past and the future. So ayun, naging magkatulong kami ngayon sa pagtulong sa ibang taong may kinakaharap na problema.”

McCoy de Leon considers it a big blessing to be part of the horror flick “The Heiress.”

“I thank Regal dahil kinuha nila ako for this movie at first time kong makapreha si Janella Salvador,” he says. “First time ko ring makatrabaho si Inay Maricel Soriano and it’s a great experience I will never forget. Naging napakabait niya sa amin ni Janella and we learned so much from her.”

So how is it working with Janella?

“We’ve known each other for quite some time kasi pareho kami ng handler kaya wala na kaming ilangan sa shooting.”

McCoy’s full name is Mark Carlos de Leon. He’s 24 years old and he initially gained fame as a member of the all-male dance group called Hashtags. He then joined “Pinoy Big Brother 7” and he formed a love team with Elisse Joson. They were launched in the movie “Sakaling Maging Tayo” but, sadly, it didn’t do well at the tills as it was shown after their “McLisse” love team has broken up.

Does he have any regrets about what happened to him and Elisse?

“Hindi naman ako nanghinayang kasi hindi ko naman na-feel na nag-suffer ‘yung career.

I’m just happy now na nabigyan ako chance na makapagtrabaho sa Regal. Aside from ‘The Heiress,’ may isa pa raw akong gagawing movie sa kanila and sa, Star Cinema naman, tapos ko na ‘yung ‘Block Z’ and I’ll do ‘The Mirror’ so tuloy-tuloy lang ang trabaho ko.’’

Alfred Vargas is busy with his work as QC District 5 congressman but he still has not neglected his roots, which is acting.

“Siempre that’s where I started in 2001 nang makuha ako as part ng Star Circle,” he says.

“Ka-batch ko sina Bea Alonzo, Dennis Trillo, TJ Trinidad at marami pang hindi na active ngayon.”

He is the only who has successfully branched out into politics but he continues to act. He has finished two new movies and is also a guest in the new GMA-7 soap, “Magkaagaw,” and in iWant streaming’s movie, “Wild Little Love.” The two full-length films he has finished are “Kaputol” with Cherie Gil and Angel Aquino, and “Tagpuan” with Iza Calzado and

Shaina Magdayao, both written by Ricardo Lee and directed by Mac Alejandre. “Kaputol” is a film within a film. Cherie plays a director and Alfred is her actor in a film where they play siblings. “Tagpuan” is a film a love story about OFWs caught in a triangle. Iza is Alfred’s wife who works in New York, then he meets Shaina in Hong Kong and they have an affair.

He remains, first and foremost, a caring husband to his wife Yasmine and their three kids Alexandra Milan, Aryana Cassandra, and Alfredo Cristiano.
