FIRST Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos yesterday led the ocular inspection of the Coconut Palace and the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), two of the venues for the forthcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit that the Philippines is hosting in 2026.
The First Lady took to social media to share some of the photos during the inspection.
The Philippines will chair ASEAN in 2026 and hold the meetings in Manila and Boracay.
President Marcos Jr., during the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia, said the Philippines is ready to host the regional summit and promised to “fortify the foundations of the bloc’s community-building and steer it towards a new chapter.”
The Philippines was supposed to host the regional summit in 2027 and Myanmar next year. However, Southeast Asian leaders had decided that Myanmar won’t take over the rotating leadership of the 10-member block in 2026, with the Philippines agreeing to take the helm.
The Philippines last hosted the ASEAN in 2017.
