FORMER Mutya ng Pilipinas Organization president Hemilyn Escudero Tamayo won the virtual finals of the 4th Mrs. Tourism Pageant last Tuesday, besting 20 other married and advocacy-driven delegates worldwide, capping her grand and successful comeback in pageantry.
Immediately after winning the most coveted title of Mrs. Tourism Universe 2021 via Zoom from a stage setup in Calamba, Laguna, Hemilyn drove her way immediately to Tres Marias Resort owned by former beauty queen-entrepreneur Jessie Maloles in Parañaque City, where the judges and Mrs. Tourism founder and CEO Ovette Ricalde were waiting for her live coronation.
Wearing an elegant burgundy evening gown, Hemilyn was enthroned and crowned by Maloles and Ricalde, in the presence of a handful of judges, KF pageant trainer Rodgil Flores and select members of media.
Aside from the top title, Hemilyn also won 6 special awards, namely: Best in National Costume, Best in Talent (on the spot painting), Best in Speech, Most Influential on YouTube, Most Influential on FaceBook, and Most Supportive Candidate.
Among the judges who virtually selected the winners were Mrs. Tourism International 2018 Dr. Risa Caldoza, Mrs. Tourism World Philippines 2014 Marlan Manguba, Megastar Ambassador Deniece Cornejo, Maricel Vest and Maloles.
The other delegates who were elected as winners were: Mrs. Phil-Japan Catherine Yogi, Mrs. Tourism World; Mrs. Ecuador Monica Nugra, Mrs. Tourism International; Mrs. Singapore Eztelle Roche Kaye, Mrs. Tourism Globe; and Mrs. Peru Lisha Alencaste Nin, Mrs. Tourism Earth.
The wife of an air force reservist officer and doting mother of two boys, Hemilyn is also an air force reservist under the AFP Reserve Command. She is the daughter of former Mayor Dr. Oscar Escudero of Casiguran, Sorsogon.

On Sunday, August 8, two pageants will select virtually the country’s delegates to Miss Earth and Mr. Gay World.
Miss Philippines Earth and Miss Earth Water 2020 Roxie Baeyens will crown her successor from among 68 contestants at the Miss Philippines Earth 2021 virtual finals to be hosted by Robi Domingo and aired on the Kapamilya Channel at 10 a.m. and on livestream in social media platforms at 1 p.m.
Mr. Fahrenheit 2021, on livestream at 8 p.m., will select the Philippine delegate to Mr. Gay World 2021. It is a joint undertaking of F Club Philippines and Mr. Gay World Philippines Organization, headed by Wilbert Tolentino.
