Oktoberfest might have Bavarian roots, but the festival’s popularity has resulted in it spreading all over the world. The Philippines is no exception, with the beer-loving nation celebrating Oktoberfest with aplomb.
During the month, people can expect hotels, restaurants and other establishments to join the festivities and offer their own version of Oktoberfest.
In Clark, Pampanga, the parking area adjacent to Clark Marriott Hotel was transformed into a drinking hall where guests could celebrate the Oktoberfest cheer.
“It is basically bringing one part of Germany to Clark that our guests and the Kapampangan can enjoy — German Oktoberfest that is truly worth-experiencing first. We hope to continue bringing more firsts to our valued guests, partners, and even our associates,” said Goeran Soelter, Clark Marriott general manager.
The hotel’s Oktoberfest festival was held on October 11 and 12 and during these days, festivalgoers were treated to free-flowing Weihenstephan beer paired with a spread of German dishes. Steins of beer were downed as guests had their fill of bratwursts, nurnberger and weisswurts. Also on the menu was Schweinshaxn, pretzels, sauerkraut, spatzle and apple strudels.
A festival would not be complete without music and Clark Marriott did not disappoint, flying in AnTon Show. The Munich-based show band has been touring around Asia for the past 25 years, bringing the crowd to its feet with its performances.
Between rowdy toasts and chants, guests danced the night away to a variety of songs —
from German festival songs to American pop and classics, even to the occasional Filipino song.
