AROUND 90 percent of Filipinos prefer candidates who advocate job generation, strengthening the health system, developing the agricultural sector, and ensuring food security, as well as promoting access to education, the March 15-20 commissioned survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed.

The survey, commissioned by the Starbase Consultancy Group, involved 1,800 adult respondents nationwide with a margin of error of ±2 percent.

The results showed that 92 percent of Filipinos, up from 89 percent in February, said they would vote for candidates who would push for more job opportunities.

Ninety-one percent (up from 90 percent each) said they would support candidates who would strengthen the healthcare system, and develop agriculture and ensure food security, while 90 percent said they would vote for bets vying for equal access to education (up from 89 percent).

SWS found that 89 percent (from 88 percent) supports bets who advocates worker’s rights and Overseas Filipino (FW) welfare while 86 (up from 83 percent) said they support bets who pushes for the reduction of hunger and inflation and 85 percent (up from 81 percent) for those who advocate controlling the prices of basic services and goods.

Eighty-two percent of Filipinos support candidates who address the impact of climate change and enhance disaster preparedness (up from 79 percent) and defend national security and sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (77 percent).

SWS said 79 percent of Filipinos prefer candidates who advocate the achievement of energy security and usage of renewable energy (up from 75 percent), as well as fighting illegal drugs (up from 7 percent) while 71 percent (from 70 percent) said they would vote for bets campaigning to fight graft and corruption.

Stratbase President Dindo Manhit said the consistent focus on jobs, healthcare, food, education, and prices reflects deep and ongoing economic concerns among Filipinos.
