EIGHT overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Macau have been placed by their employer on a “no pay leave” since last month, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday said.

The DMW said the eight OFW gardeners have been on leave without pay after their employer failed to secure the project for which they were hired from the Macau government.

The DMW said the eight OFWs have been given the green light to find other employers.

While closely monitoring their statuses, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Macau has provided MOP$1,500 or US$200 financial assistance to each of the eight OFWs. “(This is to) cover their personal expenses,” said the MWO-Macau.
