23 more senatorial aspirants declared ‘nuisance’ bets

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has declared 23 more senatorial aspirants as nuisance candidates ahead of the May 2025 national and local polls.

In a social media post, the Comelec announced that the 23 individuals, who filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) for senator were declared as nuisance candidates by the Commission’s 1st and 2nd Divisions.

The Comelec 1st Division declared as nuisance candidates Primo Puso Aquino, Berteni Causing, and Alice Jumalon.

On the other hand, the Comelec 2nd Division declared Miranda Cadion, Melissa Fortes, Deviendo Biazon, Epifanio Perez, Phil delos Reyes, Luther Meniano, Najar Salih, Vicente Domingo, Roel Lamoste, Fernando Manlangit, Edgardo Duque, Subair Mustapha, Artemio Maquiso, Robert Tagean, Robert Agad, James Reyes Jr., Jaime Balmas, Jose Bunilla, Eulogio Partosa, and Bethsaida Lopez as nuisance bets.

The latest batch of Comelec rulings bring to 70 the total number of senatorial aspirants declared as nuisance candidates.

Just last week, the poll body already declared 47 senatorial aspirants as nuisance bets.

There were 183 individuals who filed their COCs for senator at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel from October 1 to 8.

Of the total number, 66 senatorial aspirants have been included in the partial/initial list of aspirants via Minute Resolution No. 24-0824.

The remaining 117 COC filers, on the other hand, faced petitions to declare as nuisance candidates filed by the Comelec Law Department.
