AFTER delivering the first two gold and silver medals of the recent 30th Southeast Asian Games, triathlon opens a new decade in the country with the launch of the 2020 season of the National Age Group Triathlon series to fire off with close to a thousand participants on Jan. 26 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
A joint project of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, the season’s opening race will feature the Standard Distance (1.5K swim — 40K bike — 10K run), Sprint Distance (75 M swim — 20K bike — 5K run) and Super Sprint Distance (500M swim — 13K bike — 2.5 K run), with San Bernardino serving as the main venue for starting, transition and finishing.
At stake in the event supported by the SBMA, the Philippine Sports Commission, Standard Insurance, FINIS and Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines are gift packs and medals for the top 3 winners of each age-group category per distance as well as the Team Relay category.
