Raymund Pascual Offshore Wind Awards: Celebrating Leadership and Innovation in Renewable Energy

The Philippine offshore wind energy sector gathered to celebrate excellence and innovation at the inaugural Raymund Pascual Offshore Wind Awards. This event honors the legacy of Raymund Pascual, the late Country Manager of BlueFloat Energy and Founding President of POWER Philippines, recognizing individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the growth of offshore wind energy in the Philippines.

Raymund Pascual was renowned for his relentless pursuit of renewable energy advancement, particularly in offshore wind, and for inspiring collaboration within the industry. The awards aim to foster partnerships among industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators while honoring both public and private sector contributions to sustainable growth.

During the event, Carlos Martin, CEO of BlueFloat Energy, delivered a heartfelt video message reflecting on Raymund’s impact. He emphasized the importance of collaboration: “Raymund was an inspiration for all… Collaboration will be critical, and I encourage everyone here to continue working together to realize the potential of offshore wind energy.”

The ceremony recognized outstanding contributions from both sectors. Awards for private sector leadership were presented to: Myrna Velasco, Energy Senior Reporter, Manila Bulletin; Joyce Anne Asilo, Senior Business Development Manager, NIRAS; Atty. Jose Layug, Jr., Senior Partner, Divina Law; Eduardo Francisco, President, BDO Capital; Theo Sunico, Vice President, Triconti; Francis Daba, Business Development Director, Copenhagen Infrastructure Service.

Recognition was also given to government agencies that have demonstrated impactful leadership in advancing the offshore wind sector: Department of Energy (DOE); Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC); Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC); Board of Investment (BOI).

These agencies have made significant strides in policy development, regulatory frameworks, research initiatives, and stakeholder collaboration.

As the Philippines moves closer to its renewable energy goals, the offshore wind sector is poised to play a crucial role in driving the nation’s transition toward sustainability. The Raymund Pascual Offshore Wind Awards serve as a testament to the collective efforts of public and private sectors in keeping offshore wind energy at the forefront of the country’s energy strategy. Through these awards, Raymund Pascual’s legacy continues to inspire future leaders in offshore wind energy.

The awards ceremony was jointly organized by BlueFloat Energy, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the Wind Energy Developers Association of the Philippines (WEDAP), and the Pilipinas Offshore Wind Energy Roundtable (POWER) at Brittany Hotel BGC on December 11, 2024.
