WALK the talk on environment programs.

Labor sector leader and presidential candidate Leody de Guzman yesterday issued this challenge to all national and local candidates as he warned of the worsening global problems on pollution and climate change.

The Partido Partido Lakas ng Masa standard bearer announced that his own campaign will only use biodegradable materials for posters and streamers to ensure a near-zero carbon footprint.

He said each candidate’s programs for the environment should not be confined on paper and on the stage.

“In the face of the country’s twin problems on pollution and climate crisis, it is no longer enough to speak about these issues. We need to act. We need to match our words with what we are doing,” he said.

He said those who are running for public office — from presidentiables down to town councilors — must collectively resist using cheaper yet environmentally destructive materials.

“The use of eco-friendly materials should be an integral part of electoral reforms. It behooves the Comelec to promote voter awareness,” he said.
