KARL Eldrew Yulo, the younger brother of two-time world champion Carlos, is wowing ‘em in the Palarong Pambansa.

Karl, 15, came up with a solid performance in the floor exercise of the men’s artistic gymnastics competition at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum yesterday and is heavily-favored to qualify in the finals of five events.

Make that six if the National Capital Region team, which includes Karl, qualifies for the finals.

Before hundreds of fans who braved the rains to see him in action, Karl came up with a routine that easily overshadowed the best that his rivals could muster, earning loud cheers and applause.

“Hopefully, makapasok sa lahat (ng finals),” said the younger Yulo, who was hugged by his mother Angelika after completing his splendid routine.

Karl is hoping to surpass his five-gold medal in Davao City four years ago, before the Palaro was mothballed in the next three years due to the pandemic.

His coach, Reyland Capellan, said Karl is good for six medals, “assuming pumasok sa lahat ng finals.”
