IN a battle of co-leaders, North Korea crushed the Young Filipinas 6-0 yesterday in Group A action to advance to the semifinals of the AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup in Bali, Indonesia.
Jon Il Chong scored a brace, including the opening goal in the 16th minute on a follow-up header, before adding her second 10 minutes later in the 26th while Kang Ryu Mi (24th) and Pak Il Sim (31st) also scored to give the North Koreans a 4-0 halftime lead en route to their second win.
The North Koreans continued their onslaught in the second half with Choe Gung Gum adding a fifth marker in the 48th and substitute Son Joe Ye the sixth in the 93rd to secure a spot in the crossover semis with one match to go.
