New additions promptly make impact for Cignal

NEW additions Erika Santos and Heather Guino-o wasted no time proving their worth for Cignal.

The two spikers made key contributions in the HD Spikers’ back-to-back victories this week when the league traveled to Vigan City, Ilocos Sur to kick off the pre-season PVL On Tour.

Cignal took the early lead in Pool B, beating the Akari Chargers 25-23, 25-14, 25-23 last Sunday before the HD Spikers outlasted the Capital1 Solar Spikers 25-21, 25-22, 25-16 last Monday.

Opposite hitter Santos, who last played for the PLDT High Speed Hitters, showcased her skills for Cignal especially with the absences of Alas Pilipinas national team members Vanie Gandler and Dawn Catindig.

A product of La Salle, Santos described her new chapter with the HD Spikers as “it feels like home.”

Every time na mag-training may matututunan and hindi kami nag-stop para matuto and makinig kay coach,” Santos said.

The 5-foot-9 belle also commended her teammates including setter Gel Cayuna for her brilliance and humility in and outside the court.

Guino-o has reconnected with her former FEU coach Shaq Delos Santos and teammates Cayuna, Buding Duremdes, and Gyzelle Sy in Cignal.

Guino-o sat out in the opening match of the HD Spikers but had quality minutes and contributions off the bench in Cignal’s showdown against her former team, the Solar Spikers.
