CHAMPIONSHIPS are not built overnight and newly minted MVP Savi Davison of the champion PLDT vowed to do more for her team.
Davison and the rest of the High Speed Hitters captured their second straight title after sweeping the Invitational Conference over the weekend.
“I think the hard part now is just not to get comfortable. A lot of people make it great and then kind of fall off. So, I think our job from here on out is not to kind of look back and see how hard,” Davison said. “Like obviously, recognize how hard it was to get here, but what it looks like from here on out.
“There’s going to be a lot more sacrifices. A lot more days that we don’t want to show up, but we’ll do. A lot more blood, sweat, and tears. So, all I can speak about is how we can maintain that going forward and you know, how we can thrive from here on out,” she added.
The Filipino-Canadian spiker showed her true worth in the Invitational meet en route to bagging the MVP plum.
Davison finished third in the overall scoring with 94 points built on 81 attacks, nine blocks and four service aces and ranked second in spiking with 38.57 percent success rate.
In addition, Davison placed third in service with 0.22 aces per set, sixth in blocking with 0.50 per set, and seventh in receiving with a 30.00 percent efficiency.
Davison, 26, was elated no end after winning the crown and the conference’s top award in front of her family.
“They’re a big reason why I’m here. They’re the closest I can get to my mom right now. So, I feel like sharing this moment with them, you know, having them support me through, I mean, when I even started volleyball, is a big thing and to finally come back full circle and have this moment in front of them means a lot to me,” she said.
“So, I’m glad that I can, you know, share it with them and, you know, have them part of the journey.”
