GAMES TODAY
(The Arena, San Juan)
11 a.m. – EAC vs. Letran
2:30 p.m. – Lyceum vs. Mapua
LETRAN goes for the solo lead today, Tuesday, when it battles Emilio Aguinaldo College in the 100th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Hot on a three-game winning streak, the Lady Knights are favored to book their 10th win in 11 games when they clash with the Lady Generals at 11 a.m.
Last Saturday, the Intramuros-based crew pulled off a convincing straight sets victory over contender Perpetual Lady Altas 27-25 25-23 25-21 to rise to 9-2.
His charges are favored but Letran coach Oliver Almadro refused to take anything for granted, saying: “Ang sakin lang is I always tell my players that we have to do right, they have to trust each other and have faith in each other. So, iyon naman ang mantra namin, faith. So, I’m just happy that players coming off the bench are delivering and nagrerespond doon sa kung anong kailangan ng team namin. Ang tawag ko nga doon fill in the blank.”
EAC is out to bounce back from its loss to defending champion College of Saint Benilde the last time out.
Clashing in the other game at 2:30 p.m. are the Lyceum Lady Pirates and the Mapua Lady Cardinals.
The Lady Pirates are out to raise their 5-6 mark while the Lady Cardinals aim to enhance their 7-4 record.
The Cromwel Garcia-mentored Lyceum posted its third consecutive triumph last Friday, beating the JRU Lady Bombers 25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-10.
Mapua is out to bounce back from a 28-26, 14-25, 25-22, 23-25, 10-15 setback to the Arellano Lady Chiefs two days ago.
