The Lady Chiefs go into the match at noon with a 6-3 mark, just half-a-game behind Mapua and Perpetual for the fourth spot and should be favored against the Lady Stags, who have a 5-4 card.
Leading the charge for Arellano are Pauline De Guzman, Laika Tudlasan, and Sam Tiratira.
Clashing in the other women’s match at 2:30 p.m. are the Lyceum Lady Pirates and the struggling Jose Rizal U Lady Bombers.
The Cromwel Garcia-mentored Lady Pirates have a 4-6 slate, counting a huge win over the Perpetual Lady Altas last Wednesday, 21-25, 25-21, 29-31, 25-14, 15-12.
“Sabi ko nga sa mga bata, anything that we train ay nasa kanila na mismo kung paano nila gagamitin. Siguro, i-improve pa namin dito iyong mismong tapang ng buong team. Kumbaga, we fell short in the past season, sabi ko ito I think they can do it naman,” Garcia said.
Garcia expects his veterans, led by Johna Dolorito, Jaja Tulang, Venice Puzon and Joan Doguna, to continue to step up.
JRU, with a woeful 1-9 card, is out to snap a six-game skid.
The Mandaluyong-based crew suffered another heartbreak, losing to reigning champion College of Saint Benilde four days ago 16-25, 28-26, 25-19, 13-25.
