GAMES TOMORROW

4 p.m. – Cignal vs. Kobe Shinwa University
6:30 p.m. – PLDT vs. ZUS Coffee
JAPANESE guest team Kobe Shinwa University regained its winning ways in the PVL Invitational Conference, scoring a 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21 victory over Creamline last night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
The visiting collegiate squad returned to the win column of the tournament after losing to undefeated and finals-bound PLDT last Monday, with Yasuma Kokoro erupting for 23 points and 12 excellent receptions.
Arisu Ishikawa and Nagisa Komatsuda also sizzled for Kobe Shinwa with 16 markers each, with the former getting 12 excellent receptions while the latter saving eight digs.
With the result, Kobe Shinwa University boosted its campaign with a 2-1 record while Creamline fell to 1-3, losing its chance to reach the finals.
“Iyong kahapon versus PLDT, okay naman iyong hanggang middle (part) of the sets pero bandang huli marami lumabas na missed, so iyon iyong iningatan namin,” Kobe Shinwa University coach Kiyokazu Yamamoto said through an interpreter.
“Sa tingin (namin) iyong Creamline very fast offense, so ginawa (namin) aggressive start then concentrate sa defense,” he added.
Kobe Shinwa University seeks to bolster its finals hopes tomorrow when it collides with Cignal at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Cool Smashers will try to keep their podium dreams alive when they clash with the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on Friday at the Big Dome.
Jema Galanza’s 20 points, 17 excellent receptions and 11 digs went for naught for Creamline, which also got 20 markers from Pangs Panaga.
