BACK after skipping the Invitational Conference, PLDT is ready to move forward, setting its sights on a lofty goal in the All-Filipino Conference of the Premier Volleyball League set to start this Saturday, Nov. 9.
The High Speed Hitters were involved in a controversy in the Reinforced Conference, a crucial call from a game official dashing their hopes of beating Akari in their battle for a finals slot.
After that defeat, the High Speed Hitters skipped the mid-season Invitational Conference, saying they would focus on recovering from injuries.
According to PLDT coach Rald Ricafort, they are moving forward from that episode and will go into the All-Filipino battle with a positive attitude, saying they have learned their lesson well.
Ricafort said in their psychology sessions, they agreed to forget everything that happened in their game against Akari, instead using it to motivate the team.
“Regardless of what happened, we need to move on. Kailangang masanay kami na ma-handle iyong ganung situations,” he said.
“We never questioned the rules, ang nagging question naming is how to handle the situation. Duon umikot lahat, from the protest after the game,” he added.
Ricafort welcomed the league’s move to improve officiating to prevent a repeat of the incident.
As the squad gears up for the six-month-long competition, PLDT is hoping to have an injury-free run and mental toughness to complete their comeback.
Leading the team are Savi Davison, Kianna Dy and Kim Fajardo, along with Mika Reyes, Kath Arado and Majoy Baron.
