QUARTERFINALS-bound PLDT kept its surge, downing Galeries Tower 25-20, 25-14, 25-17 yesterday in the PVL On Tour at the University of San Carlos-Recoletos Coliseum in Cebu City.

The High Speed Hitters wound up with a 5-0 mark in Pool A of the pre-season meet with opposite hitter Kianna Dy leading the squad with 12 points, all on attacks.

Middle blocker Mika Reyes and veteran Jovy Prado also made their presence felt for PLDT with 10 markers apiece.

PLDT earlier secured the first playoffs spot last Saturday after a convincing triumph against Nxled Chameleons 25-11, 25-17, 25-21 at the same venue.

“Iyong improvement tsaka iyong exposure doon sa dalawa (Prado and Kiesha Bedonia), nasagad namin. Challenge itong Galeries kasi may pagod din iyong kahapon tapos iyong Nxled, paangat na rin sila. Hindi pa lumalabas gaano sa standings pero nandoon sila. Na-overcome namin iyong challenge kanina,” High Speed Hitters coach Rald Ricafort said. “Iyong pasensya noong una kasi wala naman kaming time mag-prepare sa kanila. Iba iyong tempo nila, masyadong mabilis talaga. Mahirap siyang gawin nang hindi na-practice. “Binanggit namin sa kanila kanina na pagsabayin iyong adjustment tsaka iyong patience na kinakailangan. Kahit medyo slow start noong first and third (sets), kapag kailangan nang trumabaho, alam na nila iyong kailangang gawin,” he added.

Aside from its offensive mastery with 46 total attacks, PLDT limited its unforced errors to only 12 in the hour and 32-minute showdown while the Highrisers had 23.

Rookie Jean Asis and wing spiker France Ronquillo paced Galeries Tower with 11 points each as the team fell to 0-5.
