LA Salle opened its redemption campaign in style with a gritty 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 sweep of Arellano University in the V-League Collegiate Challenge men’s division preliminaries yesterday at the Paco Arena Sports and Events Center in Manila.
This edition of the 2023 champions delivered a solid performance in front of former Green Spikers Menard Guerrero, Noel Kampton, Vince Maglinao, and JM Ronquillo—especially during a decisive third-set surge that sealed the one-hour-and-23-minute match.
Last year, La Salle fell short of back-to-back crowns, bowing to Far Eastern University in a three-game finals series.
In the closing stretch, back-to-back quick hits from Issa Ousseini and team captain JJ Rodriguez restored a three-point cushion before a double contact violation on a Daniel Agovida set sealed the win for the Green Spikers.
