CREAMLINE trounced Chery Tiggo 25-15, 25-13, 25-22 last night to bag the bronze medal in the PVL Invitational Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Cool Smashers rolled to their 19th straight podium finish, thanks to the efforts of veteran opposite spiker Michele Gumabao, who sparkled with 17 points off 58 percent attacking efficiency.

Also stepping up for Creamline were Jema Galanza who poured in 12 markers, seven digs and seven excellent receptions while skipper Alyssa Valdez chipped in nine points, 18 excellent receptions and 13 digs.

This was the Cool Smashers’ fifth overall bronze medal in the league, following up their third-place win in the pre-season On Tour.

In addition, it was a revenge victory for fancied Creamline who lost to the Crossovers back in the preliminaries 20-25, 26-24, 25-21, 17-25, 15-17 last in month.

“Siyempre, thankful sa mga players. Talagang ibinigay nila iyong 100 percent nila dito sa game na ito. Kesyo, third and fourth (match) or finals, iyong Creamline naman talagang nandiyan palagi,” Cool Smashers coach Sherwin Meneses said. “So, talagang nagtrabaho iyong mga players ngayon so thankful talaga sa kanila.

“Sa tingin ko, very competitive sila palagi sa training, hindi masyadong nag-a-absent. Iyon naman iyong maganda sa Creamline na napaka-competitive nila sa training so pagdating sa game talagang magandang panoorin. Kesyo, manalo or matalo, talagang magbibigay ng magandang laro kahit sino iyong kalaban,” he added.

Wing spiker Ara Galang and Cess Robles paced Chery Tiggo with 10 and nine points, respectively.
