ACHING to continue the hustle to further their cause, opposite spiker Erika Santos wants to give it her all for the Cignal HD Spikers in the playoffs of the PVL On Tour.

The HD Spikers are the first team to enter the quarterfinals after finishing the group phase with a 4-1 record in Pool B over the weekend.

Thanks to the effort of Santos, who erupted for a career-high 30 points last Sunday, Cignal bounced back from a loss the last time out with a 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16 victory over ZUS Coffee in Passi City, Iloilo.

“Good thing kasi iyong mga paghihirap namin, nag-pay off. Credit po sa mga teammates ko at mga coaches namin na nag-trabaho,” Santos said.

The La Salle product bared that the heartbreak they endured at the hands of the Chery Tiggo Crossovers last Saturday taught them a lot of lessons such as making points of their lapses and improvements.

“Balik lang sa kung ano iyong pinagtrabahuhan. Good thing na na-acknowledge namin iyong nangyari. Na-acknowledge iyong mga pagkakamali, iyong mga lapses, areas of corrections,” the 5-foot-9 hitter said.

“Nalaman namin kung ano pa iyong mga kulang and kailangan naming matutunan. Hindi lang kami nag-stop. Nagtuloy-tuloy lang.”

HD Spikers coach Shaq delos Santos praised Santos for stepping up for the team in the big win.

“Sabi ko nga, bawing-bawi ka (Santos), kasi last time dami ring errors, sabi ko, ‘bawing-bawi ka na ha.’ Sabi niya, ‘oo coach, hindi ako nakatulog.’”

“Good thing naman kasi another opportunity for us na kung ano iyong nawala sa amin before, ano pagkukulang yesterday kailangan mabawi namin. Which is iyon, nag-materialize.”

The Last Eight of the pre-season tournament is set to begin on Aug. 7.
