FROM overcoming struggles and adversities to becoming a perennial contender and a force to be reckoned with, the PLDT High Speed Hitters proved that there is success and light at the end of the tunnel after capturing their first-ever title in the PVL.

The High Speed Hitters bagged their maiden crown in the PVL after completing a sweep of the pre-season On Tour last week, defeating the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the winner-take-all final at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

This was PLDT’s first-ever podium finish in the league since joining the PVL, the country’s lone professional volleyball league, in 2021.

Twelve days after their title triumph, the High Speed Hitters took time to celebrate and visit their ever-supportive fans in a Champions’ Homecoming event at the telco’s headquarters in Makati.

Last Tuesday, On Tour finals MVP Mika Reyes, skipper and Best Libero Kath Arado, aces Savi Davison and Kianna Dy, and the rest of the High Speed Hitters spent time to meet and greet PLDT employees as they also set their sights on the ongoing Invitational Conference diadem.

“For me, I’ve been with the team almost 2 years now and nakikita ko iyong support talaga ng employees. They were able to watch the finals and it’s really nakakataba ng puso because we see na marami nang nagsusuport sa amin and the crowd is really like our eight man. With them, ginaganahan talaga kami maglaro. So, hopefully, in the next games rin makakanood rin sila,” Dy said.

Team Manager Bajjie Del Rosario lauded the High Speed Hitters’ victory saying: “Back in 2021, we had a goal siyempre iyong mag-champion so siyempre it didn’t happened overnight so kinuha namin iyong mga pieces na tingin namin na makakapagpa-abot ng goal namin. So, ngayon, we’re very happy with the team,” he said.

PLDT Senior Vice President and Head Consumer Business John Palanca also praised the team’s feat while also highlighting the ‘Pusong PLDT’ that the squad showed in its matches.

“This championship is a proud moment for our team and for our PLDT family. Their victory really displays our mantra of Pusong PLDT. And with that, we’re very grateful to have you here to help us celebrate and spread that inspiration nationwide,” Palanca said.
