ARELLANO University and three other teams try to wrap up their first-round campaign on a high note today, Thursday, as the 100th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament resumes at the San Sebastian College-Recoletos gym in Manila.
The Lady Chiefs shoot for their fourth straight victory when they collide with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals in the main game of the women’s double-header at 1 p.m.
Three squads in defending champion College of Saint Benilde, University of Perpetual Help and Mapua University are tied at the top with identical 7-2 win-loss slates.
Going into today’s game sitting in the middle of the standings with a 5-3 card, the Obet Javier-mentored Lady Chiefs look to continue their winning ways while the Lady Generals seek to score back-to-back victories and improve their current slate of 2-6.
Clashing in the other match are the Lyceum Lady Pirates and the JRU Lady Bombers.
Led by outside hitter Laika Tudlasan, Marianne Padillon and Pauline De Guzman, Arellano booked its third consecutive triumph last Friday, beating the San Sebastian Lady Stags 31-29, 25-12, 25-18.
The Lady Generals survived the Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers last Saturday in five sets, 33-31, 25-16, 18-25, 20-25, 15-10, thanks to the efforts of Erica Bodonal, Cara Dayanan, and Alessandra Razonable.
