KACEY dela Rosa was already seen as a budding star even before she first stepped on the halfcourt in Manila Hustle 3×3 last year.
But after her standout showing that allowed her to claim the MVP honors, the 19-year-old center admitted her career took off and allowed her to grow leaps and bounds.
“More people have gotten to know me as a basketball player which has given me more opportunities and these opportunities have allowed me to grow as a person and as a basketball player,” she said.
Since then, dela Rosa has gone on and earned a national team call-up before winning the UAAP MVP honors for Ateneo.
This time, she will be back to lead Gilas Pilipinas Women for Season 2 on Feb. 3 and 4 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
Teaming up with Kristine Cayabyab, Mikka Cacho, and Luisa San Juan, dela Rosa will be the focal point for the Nationals in this tourney presented by Uratex and Smart, has the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas as official technical partner, Seiko as official timekeeper, and B’lue as official hydration partner.
If she can replicate her solid performance and tow her side to another championship, though, is another question of its own.
But certainly, dela Rosa will be on top of her game putting Gilas Pilipinas Women on her shoulders.
